AREWA IN ASABA ENDORSES PRESIDENT JONATHAN FOR 2ND TERM


According to update from Reuben Abati on his twitter page,  Arewa people in Southern Nigeria endorse President Jonathan for 2nd term in Asaba, today Saturday.

According to the President at the rally, Nigeria is bigger than any person and all should do everything to keep the country one. “Nigeria is one country, one people, whether you are a Muslim or a Christian you are a Nigerian and people respect Nigeria because of our diversity.

“We have over 250 ethnic groups with two major religions: Islam and Christianity; and they are living in peace and that is what makes us strong. That is what attracts respect to Nigerians and we must not allow anybody, any politician, to divide us.



“The Muslim and Christian youths must see themselves primarily as Nigerian youths. They must work together to project the interest of this country; they must work together for the future of this country.

“They must work together to ensure economic growth and development of this country and they must work together to ensure peace.

“You must not allow politicians to use the youths to create division among ourselves,” he said.


The President criticized the discrimination against non-indigenes residents in some states in the country saying that such practices must stop.


According to him, his administration will fully implement the decisions of the National Conference to address many discriminatory practices in the society, if re-elected.

Onnoghen's CCT Trial: Lawyers Protest Say It's 'Dead on Arrival'

Some Lawyers according to Sahara reporters held a protest in Abuja today Monday to express dissatisfaction with the charges filed against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen Onnoghen is standing trial over charges related to alleged fraudulent declaration of assets. He was scheduled for arraignment on Monday but wasn’t in court. The protest held outside the premises of the Code of Conduct Tribunal. According to the lawyers, “due process” is required before Onnoghen can be arraigned. They also noted that the charge against Onnoghen is “dead on arrival in view of the case of Nganjiwa v FRN (2017) LPELR 43391 wherein the Court of Appeal held that a judicial officer who has not been investigated by the National Judicial Council and sanctioned for misconduct cannot be arraigned in any criminal court in Nigeria”.
