Atiku Fires Back At APC On His Citizenship

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, has said his citizenship as a Nigerian is not in doubt. He said this in a statement issued on Saturday by his media adviser, Paul Ibe. It should be recalled that the All Progressives Congress, in its defence at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal had insinuated that Atiku is not a Nigerian but from Cameroon. In reaction, Atiku said he would not dignify APC with a response, adding that his lawyers will do the needful in court. He said,   “The position of the APC is so pedestrian and shows such straw-clutching desperation on their part, that I shall not dignify it with an answer. The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has advised Nigerians to stop panicking on rumours of fuel subsidy and an increase in the pump price.   A statement released a signed by the NUPENG South West Chairman, Tayo Aboyeji, states that Nigeria has enough petrol and diesel circulating in every state. “Nigerians should stop spreading and listening to rumours of government removing fuel subsidy and increasing the pump price of fuel. We are not aware of such move, there is enough fuel in circulation and no increase has been made so far,” Aboyeji said The NUPENG boss cautioned Nigerians of the impending dangers of storing and stockpiling fuel at homes and shops, especially during this hot weather. “Careless storage of fuel can lead to fire disaster both in the house and in the car,” Aboyeji advised. Most fuel stations in many parts of the country have been thronged by anxious Nigerians buying petroleum products to store at home.

Lanre Adediwura, Nigerian Nollywood movie producer and director, found himself behind bars after having an altercation with the Police. In a four-part video he shared on his Instagram handle on Friday, Adediwura narrated how he was arrested while he was offering to give his friend and his colleague a lift. In the first video posted by Adediwura, some police officers could be seen and one of them in his cars. EFCC Secures Conviction of Bizman for N3.3m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office has secured the conviction of a businessman, Haruna Aliyu, who was arraigned before Justice Darius Khobo of a Kaduna State High Court on a one-count charge bordering on cheating. The count reads: "That you, Haruna Aliyu and Abdullahi Abdulhamid sometime between the month of April and May 2017 in Kaduna within the judicial division of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of N3,300, 000 from Yusuf Babajo under false pretence that you have five plots of land for sale located at BarkaAllah village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State; a claim you knew to be false, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offence Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3)of the Same Act". Man Apprehended In Lagos For Stealing Female Underwear

An unnamed was apprehended by residents of Ikeja area of Lagos on Thursday when he was allegedly caught stealing female underwear. According to eyewitnesses, the man was allegedly seen when he was picking the underwear from where it was and he was challenged by residents of the area to reveal what was in the bag he was holding. He refused to open the bag and instead hurled insults threatening his accusers. Not wanting to give in to the man's threat, the locals took the man's bag forcefully and it was discovered that the man was in possession of female underwear. Breaking News: National Council Of State Approves N27,000 As New Minimum Wage

The National Council of State has approved N27,000 as the minimum wage for the country. The council approved the amount at its meeting in Abuja today, Tuesday 22 nd January 2019. Following the Council’s approval, a minimum wage bill is expected to be sent to the National Assembly on Wednesday. According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, the Federal Government is topping the approved amount by N3,000 to 30,000 for its workers. He said the states are at liberty to augment the new agreement as they see fit. The amount approved by the Council of State is N3,000 short of the N30,000 that the Tripartite Committee on Review of National Minimum Wage recommended. The committee, chaired by a former Head of Service of the Federation, Ms Ama Pepple, had submitted the report, which contained the recommended figure, to President Muhammadu Buhari on November 6, 2018, after many months of deliberations.
