According to the report reaching OOB from Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the first set of appointments into his administration. The President on Sunday evening, named Mr Femi Adesina and Mal. Garba Shehu as his spokesmen. Femi Adesina will serve as Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) while Garba Shehu will be the new Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity).  Read more

Nigeria’s new president, Muhammadu Buhari, and his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, will earn annual basic salaries of N3, 514, 705 and N3, 031, 572.50 respectively, according to the information on the website of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission.The RMAFC is statutorily empowered by Section 32 (d) of Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the Constitution to determine the remuneration appropriate for political office holders. A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Thursday, dismissed the suit filed by some disaffected subscribers challenging the recent 20 per cent increase in subscription rates of MultiChoice’s DStv platform. The subscribers, Osasuyi Adebayo and Oluyinka Oyeniji, both lawyers, had filed the class action suit on behalf of themselves and other DStv subscribers in the country.  Read more

A group, who call itself Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative, was reported to have filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari in on Friday 29 th May. And the group is also seeking an order to nullify the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Read more
