Choose A Date And Time, Atiku Challenges Buhari To Debate


Former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to a debate.

The PDP candidate threw the challenge to the President after both men failed to participate in the presidential debate organised by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) on Saturday.

With respect to my fellow candidates, Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwesili, Kingsley Moghalu & to moderator Mark Sugar & with apologies to Nigerians here & at home expecting an interesting debate, I regret I will not be able to go on with this debate due to President Buhari’s absence, he tweeted.

I, however, challenge President Buhari to choose a date and time for a debate where he will be present and I will be there, hopefully with the other candidates as well.

Onnoghen's CCT Trial: Lawyers Protest Say It's 'Dead on Arrival'

Some Lawyers according to Sahara reporters held a protest in Abuja today Monday to express dissatisfaction with the charges filed against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen Onnoghen is standing trial over charges related to alleged fraudulent declaration of assets. He was scheduled for arraignment on Monday but wasn’t in court. The protest held outside the premises of the Code of Conduct Tribunal. According to the lawyers, “due process” is required before Onnoghen can be arraigned. They also noted that the charge against Onnoghen is “dead on arrival in view of the case of Nganjiwa v FRN (2017) LPELR 43391 wherein the Court of Appeal held that a judicial officer who has not been investigated by the National Judicial Council and sanctioned for misconduct cannot be arraigned in any criminal court in Nigeria”.
