OBASANJO’S MEMBERSHIP CARD HAD EXPIRED, SAYS PDP
Dear blog readers I don’t know if
you will be confused the way I am here on the issue of Ex-president Olusegun
Obasanjo on this exit from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Initially the
party claimed Obasanjo was laid off from the party and the man torn his
membership card, two weeks after the party claimed on Tuesday that the card
being held by the former President had expired.
It was said that the card
hitherto owned by Obasanjo was signed by the party’s former Acting National
Chairman, Alhaji Kawu Baraje.
However, Baraje has since left
the party and he is now a chieftain of the main opposition party, the All
Progressives Congress.
While declaring his leaving the
party, Obasanjo had asked the Chairman of the PDP in his ward at Abeokuta, Mr.
Usman Oladunjoye, to tear his membership card.
Which one of all the stories from
the PDP are we now to believe?
I do not know what I find fascinating about this page that I am always drawn to it, even when I had other commitments greater than another can imagine. Once again I have the urge to comment. Once again I have the restriction to leave politics to politicians. But for the love of my country (Nigeria we hail thee...) I find myself writing or talking. Not addressed to a specific person but "to whom it may concern". We must keep this country together, if not for anything but to avert certain questions from the future (Our children are coming). Pardon me to say, the story of PDP and Obasanjo can be compared to the story of the old mariner in S. T. Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner". Each trying to hypnotize us, to sit and listen to their side of the story and at the end have sympathy for them. I believe the real story is yet to be told. Again, one would be quick to ask, "Is this an issue of a student trying to outsmart the teacher? I advice that this drama be played with great caution.
